Groups and Activities (in no particular order)
Worship- There are numerous individuals and groups who contribute to our regular worship, including musicians, servers, sidesmen, flower ladies, church cleaners, readers, chalice assistants, verger, sacristan. We can always find something for you to do!
Choir- St. Andrew's has a small but very able choir of adults and children, who sing every Sunday and at major festivals and weddings. Choir practice is on Fridays at 7pm. More members would be very welcome. Click here for details of the organ.
House groups- meet at various times through the week. To find out more please contact the vicar.
Christian Basics- Each autumn there is a course for those who want to learn (or relearn!) the basics of the Christian faith. This generally leads to confirmation in November.
Youth group- meets Sunday evenings at the vicarage during term-time
Social events- organised by the social committee- see parish calendar
Tiddlers is a short, informal service for under-5s and their mums and dads (or carers). We meet every Friday of term-time at 2pm in the church. There are bible stories, craft activities, singing and refreshments. Each week a collection is taken to supprt the work of Helen's House Children's Hospice in Oxford.
Junior Church is open to children above three years of age. After everyone has gathered in the church at 10 o'clock the Junior Church goes to the hall for their own activities. We join everyone else for a blessing towards the end of the service. There is no Junior Church on the first Sunday of the month, as the service is All-Age and everyone worships together in church. Junior Church restarts on September 12th 2010.
Youth Church is for young people from 10+. After everyone has gathered in the church at 10 o'clock the Youth Church goes to the hall for activities suitable for their age. We join the adults in church for the second part of the service. There is no Youth Church on the first Sunday of the month, as the service is All-Age and everyone worships together in church.
Mothers' Union- The St. Andrew’s branch of the Mothers’ Union has regular meetings, social events, speakers and outings- see parish calendar. We are open to all. The Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian organisation committed to supporting marriage and family life.
The Guild of St. Raphael has a local branch based at St. Andrew's. (What is the Guild of St. Raphael?) Members of the branch attend a regular eucharistic service of healing with anointing and laying on of hands, which takes place at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of the month (unless the calendar indicates otherwise)
Prayer cards- The church delivers prayer cards to all the houses in a road immediately before the week we pray for that road and its residents.
Open Church- The church is open for visitors every Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm.
